Ferrochrome lignosulphonate (FCLS)

ToR 2454-028-97457491-2010

Ferrochrome lignosulphonate (FCLS) is intended for regulating the flow characteristics of process fluids with an elevated solid-phase content that are used in well drilling and repairs. FCLS is used as a heat resistant bottomhole fluid loss reducer.

Product specs

Physical form Light-to-dark brown loose powder
Water content, weight %, max 10
pH index of water solution with a FCLS concentration of 1 weight %, units, min 3,0
Dilution index, %, min 40,0

Application

FCLS is an efficient dispersant in all drilling fluid systems with alkaline ðÍ. The negatively charged lignosulphonate ion interacts with the positively charged edges of clay particles and thus prevents them from aggregating. The injection of FCLS minimizes the thickening of drilling fluids at elevated temperatures. FCLS ensures the secondary control over water yield and is a good oil dispersant and is an efficient diluting agent at temperatures of up to 170°C.

Consumption

The higher is the solution’s temperature and saturation with salt, the higher FCLS dosage is required. The tentative consumption of FCLS ranges from 5 to 17 kg per cubic meter of drilling fluid.

Packaging

FCLS is packaged in 20-kg polypropylene bags with a polyethylene liner.
