Polyexpan Gel-Forming Reagent

ToR 2216-024-97457491-2010

Polyexpan is a composition of polymers with reinforcing and modifying additives; it is intended for high-intensity lost-circulation control and water insulation in wells.

Product specs

Physical form Light gray bulk powder
Rotary viscometer spring twist angle at 600 rpm for water solution with a mass fraction of Polyexpan of 0.5 %, degr., min 30
Polyexpan can be produced as a suspension in conveyance fluid.

Application

When Polyexpan enters the repair works area and contacts with water, it rapidly polymerizes and forms a strong crosslinked gel for 3 to 6 hours. This is attended by the irreversible clogging of pores and cracks. The gel is highly adhesive to rock surface. The post-polymerization material resists the influence of aggressive media.

Consumption

The average consumption of Polyexpan ranges from 0.3 to 0.5 tons per operation.

Packaging

Polyexpan is supplied in 25-kg polypropylene bags with a polyethylene liner.
