The Polyfloc drilling reagentis a component of drilling fluids used for intervals with a highcontent of colloidal clays.Thereagent is resistant to high temperatures and salinity (from calciumand magnesium salts), and effectively flocculates clay and shalematerials. Furthermore, the Polyfloc drilling reagent provides lowfluid loss, including under High-Pressure, High-Temperature (HPHT)conditions.PolyflocK grade is a colored oleophilic liquid used in the regenerationtechnologies for spent non-aqueous drilling fluids.

Application

A key feature of the Polyfloc reagent is its ability to chemically bind colloidal clay and render it inactive. The technical result of its application is a significant reduction in the MBT value and prevention of rheological parameter increases when drilling through clay intervals.The reduction of the Methylene Blue Test (MBT) value in the drilling fluid occurs through the neutralization of the excess negative charge on dispersed clay particles. This process deactivates the colloidal phase, substantially reducing its impact on the rheological properties.In practice, this means that the viscosity of the drilling fluid remains almost unchanged or increases only marginally when drilling intervals with colloidal clays, even under conditions of high solids build-up and inefficient solids control equipment performance.

 

Packaging

The drilling reagent in powder form is packaged in 25 kg polypropylene bags with polyethylene liners. The drilling reagent in liquid form is packaged in 200-liter steel drums.Polyfloc-K is supplied in 1,000 L IBC totes.
