Composite colmatage fillers for drilling fluids (colmatants)
Technical Specifications ÒÓ 2458-052-97457491-2012
Colmatage fillers (colmatants) effectively plug permeable formations and are used to prevent and control lost circulation.
The product is available in several grades, which differ based on the component materials used:The grade designation for colmatants produced by JSC “NPO“Polycell” indicates the material composition. KF Series: colmatants based on fractionated mica (phlogopite). KF-C Series: colmatants based on fractionated mica with the addition of fibrous materials (e.g., peat, asbestos). KF-R Series: acid-soluble, fractionated ground seashell. K-O Series: fractionated ground nutshell. The numbers in the grade designation specify the fractional composition of the colmatant.

Application
The grade and concentration of the colmatant to be used is determined in accordance with the specific drilling conditions and depends on the diameters of bores (bits and drill-bit bumpers).
Treatment
To prevent lost returns and filtration losses of the drilling fluid, it is recommended to use complex colmatage fillers in the amount of 5-20 kg per 1 m? of the drilling fluid. To eliminate lost returns of drilling fluid that already occurred, increase the rate of delivery to 30-50 kg/m?. The filler concentration can be increased to control lost circulation through the drill pipes.
Packaging
Complex colmatage fillers are packed into 25 kg polypropylene bags with polyethylene liner.Back
